2023 is bound to be an excellent year for gamers. And no, I am not discriminating, gamers of all stripes including even PC gamers are in for several treats this year.
Well maybe, not all stripes, mobile gamers, the lowest of the bunch will probably have to keep playing watered-down copies of hit thrillers. But as for the rest, there is an entire bag of goodies awaiting release.
The legendary Counter-Strike team is, reportedly, working on a sequel to the fan-favorite Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Moreover, the action-packed World-Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is putting the final touches on WWE 2k23. And of course, the king of all games, FIFA 2023, is already out and is driving gamers crazy.
Latency – The Ultimate Villian
But before we dive into touching upon each of these gems it is pertinent to mention that all of these are online Multi-Player Games. And all of us are well acquainted with the biggest enemy of online multi-player fun; ping, lag or latency choose what you want to call it.
If your internet signal takes a significant amount of time doing its round trip you are bound to miss out on some of the fun. So, if you have a high lag internet it’s about time you fixed it.
Luckily, there is still time two of the, expected, super hits are not out yet and you have plenty of time to say goodbye to your exhausting connection and trade it for a low latency option like a cable-based internet.
Sadly, gamers who reside in remote, rural, or sparsely populated do not have the same number of options as their urban-dwelling counterparts. So, they will have to rely on satellite-based Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like Cox Internet, which have a pretty hefty latency rate. You can check out the best suitable package for yourself at Cox Bundles.
But despite their high latency, satellite connections like the one mentioned above are at least a thousand times better than alternatives like Dial-Up Lines (DSL) or mobile internet connections.
Moreover, you can deploy several mitigating measures like using ethernet instead of Wi-Fi to minimize the impacts of satellite internet’s high ping on your gaming experience.
I know that was quite a detour but I am sure that every gamer in the world understands that no conversation about Multi-Player games is complete without spending a serious bit of time discussing latency.
Ok then, enough about the technical stuff, and onto gaming.
1.) FIFA 23
This is the only entry on the list which is already out. But being the last rendition of a crowd-pleaser, which has been running for almost two decades now deserves a mention in any conversation about 2023’s top games.
FIFA 23 came out in September 2022 right around the time when football and e-sports fans were getting ready for the Qatar World Cup, or I should rather say Messi’s World Cup.
Players around the world were already aware of the fact that FIFA’s (the beloved game) partnership with FIFA (the federation) was expiring, so the anticipation was high. And the game developers did not disappoint.
Featuring the French Super Star, Mbappe, on the cover the game delivered a mix of several new and old features. Most notably, the game featured Women’s football with players being able to choose from female sides at both the national and the club levels.
And the game was received with the enthusiasm it so deserved, with FIFA reporting well over Ten Million players in the opening week alone. For reference that is only a little less than the population of Sweden.
But remember, it’s far from game over for FIFA. The franchise is all set for a much-awaited re-vamp with the developers already having signed agreements with hundreds of clubs worldwide.
And if you are still gloomy, don’t be, you still have an entire year before the franchise returns with a new name kit on the cover.
2.) COUNTER STRIKE GLOBAL OFFENSIVE: SEQUEL
Game lovers of the world rejoice, after years of waiting for Valve games, the developers of CS are finally set to release a new version of CS GO.
Sources aware of the matter have gone as far as to claim that a beta version of the game can be out this very month. The developers are just ironing out some bugs.
The game is expected to have greatly improved graphics and reduced latency. Bringing it on par with more modern Tactical First-Person Shooters like Valorant.
And while Valve has kept a tight lid on other aspects of the gameplay there is one thing we can be certain about; 2023 is the year counter strike strikes back.
3.) WWE 2K23
Yes, the rumors are true. WWE is all set to release an updated rendition featuring John Cena on the cover by the mid of this month. The current edition has laid a lot of emphasis on the multiplayer aspect of the games. Fans will be able to battle against each other in the two on two, three-on-three, and four-on-four formats all the while being surrounded by the iconic iron cage.
Another explosive aspect of the game is the WWE Ultimate Universe; whereby players will be put in charge of their own franchises, being able to curate completely custom characters of their own choosing.
So, what are you waiting for, pre-bookings are open. Order up and get ready to rumble.
WRAPPING UP
With Counter-Strike and WWE making comebacks and FIFA already out, 2023 is bound to be a memorable year for binge gamers.
Just be sure to keep your machines and your internet connections up to the mark because the fun is about to start before the end of March.
