Job sites need to be properly illuminated for the work to be done correctly and finished within the deadline. Moreover, without adequate lights, workers won’t feel safe and cannot give their best. The result?

Your work may get help up, and progress may be hindered. The best way to avoid job site accidents and incentivize workers to work harder is by providing them with a hazard-free environment and proper temporary lighting systems. Choose products from a top-of-the-line manufacturer like Duraline that puts efficiency and quality above everything else.

What factors you must consider when installing lights for a job site?

  • If you want versatile,energy-efficient lighting, LED streamer lights are an excellent choice. They provide high-lumen output and help you cut down on energy costs. They are capable of operating at low temperatures compared to metal halide and fluorescent bulbs that may give you burns if you aren’t careful.
  • The power source is one of the key factors because that will impact your choice of lighting. Some power sources aren’t viable for job sites, so you have to look at alternative power sources. The most common sources are battery power, electricity, and diesel engines. Most of the traditional lights are supported by diesel engines, usually found more in remote places or areas where other power sources aren’t practical. For instance, you need lights for work on a highway too far from electrical sources. You can choose energy-efficient bulbs because low-energy usage can save refueling time. Electrical sources are the best options since you never have to worry about work disruption.
  • IP rating: Factors like dust particles and rain are a given when considering lighting for job sites. When buying temporary lights, check their IP (Ingress Protection) rating. When the rating is high, protection is better against tiny particles. 6 is the highest rating which is believed to be dust-tight. Check construction light ratings like UL, NEMA, and IP to be sure they can handle weather elements. Buy only vapor-tight, waterproof, and dustproof lights when you want them to last long.
  • You must choose manufactured lighting to withstand rough and rugged environments. With this in mind, you should check your construction lighting for ratings such as NEMA, IP, and UL to ensure it can hold up to the elements. Choose options that are waterproof, vapor tight, dustproof, and shatterproof, to make sure they will last without taking on damage.
  • The terrain is of utmost importance when placing light towers on a job site. You need a flat and firm terrain to ensure the towers stay stable. Consider power lines and tall trees in the vicinity, which can be potential obstructions.
  • Finally, consider how much lighting is necessary. Some sites may not need too much light if the work is not as critical. Level 1 (54 lumens) is alright for low-accuracy tasks, but for accurate work like filling potholes or installing machines, Level 3 (215 lumens) is needed.

Not all types of temporary lights are right for all job sites. Sites may need different lighting depending on the kind of work being done.  And if you have to choose from portable options like construction string lights, balloon lights, or headlights, you must decide after carefully considering all these factors.
