On this planet, humans set up a mining operation, which ended up disrupting the lives of the creatures on the planet. For humans to interact well with these creatures, known as the Na’vi, they created a technology called Avatar.
With a lot of success achieved from the release of the original Avatar movie and four other Avatar films, James Cameron feels it’s time to introduce the sequel to the 2009 film Avatar.
Here’s a question; what exactly is the release date of the upcoming Avatar movie, titled Avatar: The Way of Water? According to the latest film industry news, the Avatar 2 premiere is scheduled to hit cinemas and theaters on the 16th of December, 2022.
As you already know, the original Avatar movie broke a lot of box-office records during its time. Because of that, a lot of people have demanded the release of the sequel. Over the years, there have been roughly 8 theatrical delays in the release of the second installment of the movie. Now, the sequel is expected to air in cinemas on 16th December 2022.
As for the third installment, fourth installment, and final release, they should premiere in December 2024, 2026, and 2028, respectively.

As far as characters are concerned, there is now a new tribe of people on Pandora, known as the reef-dwellers of the Metkayina. Rona, played by Kate Winslet, is a part of this new tribe. Cliff Curtis acted as the leader of Metkayina, known as Tonowari.
Film Industry news: James Cameron won’t attend Avatar 2 premiere in LA
In another film industry news, reports have it that James Cameron will not attend the upcoming “Avatar: The Way of Water premiere.” The award-winning director, who has traveled to many countries to attend the premiere events of this movie, is set to miss out on the Los Angeles premiere event because of COVID-19.
James Cameron recently tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation. While the director won’t be available in person, he’ll only get to attend the LA event virtually on the account of his health.
