Ever since Google made the announcement that Huawei won’t have access to their Android software anymore, Huawei and Honor phones existent is pretty shaky but that is not stopping them from releasing new smartphones. Honor comes out with its new Honor 20 Pro which is supposed to be a Mid-range smartphone but on-paper specs of this phone are definitely closer to that of a flagship device. The Honor 20 Pro packs the same super-fast Kirin 980 chipset as the Huawei P30 Pro and its not just the chipset, the camera array is also almost the same as the P30 Pro but unlike the P30 Pro which comes with a notch, the Honor 20 Pro comes with a Punch Hole Display. Well as mentioned before the specs of the Honor 20 Pro are that of a flagship phone but here’s where it gets interesting, the price of the Honor 20 Pro is rumored to be around 600 Euros. So, here’s our Hands-on review of the new Honor 20 Pro.

Design and Display

The Design of the Honor 20 Pro is kind of good, the phone does feel premium in hand both the front and the back are glass while the phone has an aluminum frame. On the right side of the device are the volume rockers and the power button/ fingerprint reader. Yes, the power button and the fingerprint reader are the same on this phone. The Power button is perfectly positioned as well and works just fine. While on the left side of the device doesn’t have any extra buttons and is clean. The bottom of the device houses the USB Type-C port and the speaker grill while the top of the device has the IR blaster and the secondary microphone. The front of the device is almost all screen with a screen to body ratio of about 91%, the front of the device does look pretty appealing even with such narrow bezels, and honor did manage to put a speaker grill and a notification LED. If you were wondering where did Honor cut features on this phone than the answer is the display? Unlike many other Midrange smartphones that come either with an OLED or an AMOLED display, the Honor 20 Pro comes with an LCD panel. Yes! The display on the Honor 20 Pro is a 6.26 Inches IPS LCD panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display isn’t the best there are many other options in the market like the Pixel 3a or the Oneplus 7 Pro which have much better displays than the Honor 20 Pro.

Performance and Interface

The Kirin 980 is definitely a fast chipset, the Honor 20 Pro can run most of your games with High settings. The overall performance of the Honor 20 Pro is really good, the system handles most of what you throw at pretty smoothly. While the performance on the Honor 20 Pro is top notch the same cannot be said about its interface. The Honor 20 Pro comes with Magic OS on top of Android 9. The magic OS is also like other Chinese UI’s, for instance, the MIUI and Color OS. The Icons are just, just not that great looking at all. There is also this question of whether or not the Honor 20 Pro will get more updates from Google or not. And if the answer is a no? what will be the future of the phone’s OS?

Camera and Battery Life

The Honor 20 Pro comes with a quad camera setup just the like Huawei P30 Pro, the main camera is a 48 MP f/1.4  shooter with OIS and laser autofocus both at the same time while the second is an 8 MP f/2.4 telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom, the third in the line is the 16 MP f/2.2 Ultrawide lens and last but not the least is the 2 MP f/2.4 lens which is known as the dedicated macro camera. The camera setup on the Honor 20 Pro is probably one of the best you can find in any mid-range smartphone, the camera on Pixel 3a still can produce images with better Image quality though. Moreover if you are looking for Flipkart Recruitment then it could be best chance to try it.

The battery life on the Honor 20 Pro is also quite impressive, the phone comes with a 4000 mAh battery that should easily last a day and if that’s not enough the phone also comes with crazy 22.5W fast charger, which as claims made by honor can charge the device up to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Verdict

the Honor 20 Pro is one hell of a package, if the price rumors are true and the phone does release in the Mid-range market it can prove to be a tough competition for other smartphones in the market, though the phone comes with a really good camera, performance and battery life there are some drawbacks to this phone as well, for instance, its LCD panel, no headphone jack and Magic OS. If you’re into a better display or a better UI we suggest you check out the One plus 7 Pro or the Pixel 3a XL.
