Whether it’s for a nonprofit cause, a political campaign, or an entrepreneurial idea, no progress can be made without the necessary funds. Therein comes the fundraisers, although they have changed a lot over the last few years. These changes have more to do with the impact of technology than anything else and thankfully, the impact has been great. As we discuss how fundraising technology works these days, those positive impacts should become more apparent.

Through Online Platform Sites

There are several online platforms to work with these days and they all serve the same core purpose, albeit in different ways. Fundraising platforms use web tech to find and match campaigns to their target audience. The web tech used by these sites is quite vast, but the most important tool at their disposal is of course search engine optimization and AI-powered data analytics. Kickstarter, GoFundMe, Patreon, Givebutter, and Indiegogo are among the most popular online platforms that maximize the use of web technology to boost fundraiser campaigns.

Through Smartphone Apps

The technology used to host and boost fundraisers launched via a mobile app is almost the same as what we see on fundraising websites. The apps mostly act as streamlined, easy to use interfaces for the online fundraising platforms. However, due to the much wider reach of smartphone apps as compared to websites, campaigns hosted on fundraising sites with dedicated mobile apps tend to succeed better and faster.

Through SMS and MMS

Although SMS and MMS are both considered to be older technology, they have been given new life via modern mass texting software resources. For example, records show that text message donations for nonprofits were incredibly high when sent via Tatango. Texts bring accessibility to the complicated world of digital technology, making them useful for age groups who are not particularly savvy with digitization. Moreover, mass texting software applications enable that accessibility without sacrificing on any of the advantages that are expected from a digital fundraiser campaign.

Through Social Media

Fundraising technology works through social media itself as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and other popular social media sites also have inbuilt tools to create and promote digital fundraiser campaigns directly from the respective sites.

Facebook has seen the most success as a social media platform capable of generating funds for nonprofit organizations. A lot of that success is owed to the fact that the social media giant has one of the best and most effective set of customer analysis tools needed for digital promotion/marketing.

Through Email

Email works particularly well when your target audience for the fundraiser are companies and not individuals. This is not to say that individuals do not respond to fundraiser campaigns promoted vial emails, because they do. However, when it comes to individual targeting, text message donations for nonprofits have a much higher rate of success. Emails, on the other hand, are a much more suitable medium for promoting fundraisers to corporations.

Consider this to be an overview of how technology works for fundraiser campaigns, because the full scope is too vast and not needed here. Just make sure that the medium(s) you choose is best suited to the cause.
