Upgrading to a new Dynamics program doesn’t always have to be a daunting task. Although it usually takes some time to get accustomed, moving to the new and improved Microsoft Dynamics 365 is well worth the effort. Continue reading to find out how much money Dynamics 365 can save business owners and the benefits it provides.

What Is Dynamics 365?

Dynamics 365 is a collection of Microsoft business applications that help business owners manage their company more efficiently. It consists of over a dozen ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relation management) apps that aid in business management, accounting, distribution, manufacturing, and more. Although Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a bit overwhelming at first, its benefits more than make up for its slight learning curve.

Microsoft currently offers three Dynamics 365 bundles:

●      Dynamics 365 Plan

●      Unified Operations Plan

●      Customer Engagement Plan

Each bundle package uses a pay per user, per month design. The more users a plan has, the higher the monthly rates. Also, better, more complete bundles demand greater prices.

Dynamics 365 Plan

The Microsoft Dynamics 365 plan is the most complete and cost-effective version available. It offers a wide range of CRM and ERP apps that help businesses manage their backend operations and customer-facing. Dynamics 365 works great for nearly any business type and smooths out the management process.

Users will enjoy the full extent of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and have the following apps at their fingertips.

●      Finance and operations

●      Retail

●      Sales

●      Talent

●      Customer Service

●      Field Service

●      Project Service Automation

●      Microsoft Social Engagement

●      PowerApps

Since the Dynamics 365 bundle is the best and most complete package available, it demands a higher price. It starts with a base price of $268.80 per month, but it can increase depending on the number of users the purchaser grants access to the software. The Dynamics 365 plan is the premium bundle and gives users full access to Dynamics 365 and its outstanding features.

Unified Operations Plan

The United Operations Plan is an ERP-centered bundle that focuses on finances, distribution, retail, human resources, and manufacturing. It doesn’t come with as many apps as the Microsoft Dynamics 365 bundle, but it provides adequate assistance to help a small business thrive.

After purchasing the Unified Operations Plan, users will have the following apps at their disposal.

●      Finance and operations

●      Retail

●      Talent

●      PowerApps

The United Operations Plan has a base price of $243.20 per month. It may not have as many apps as the Dynamics 365 bundle, but it’s a cheaper alternative for business owners that want to zero in on their finances and management.

Customer Engagement Plan

The Customer Engagement Plan, a client-centric version of Dynamics 365, works well for businesses looking to improve their consumer relationships. It focuses on sales and customer service more than finances, giving business owners valuable insight into their clientele.

The Customer Engagement Plan comes with the following apps.

●      Sales

●      Customer Service

●      Project Service Automation

●      Field Service

●      Microsoft Social Engagement

●      PowerApps

The Customer Engagement Plan is the cheapest bundle available at $147.20 a month.

Individual Apps

Business owners don’t have to buy a pre-built package to reap the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365. Microsoft also allows people to purchase individual Dynamics 365 apps, allowing them to create their own bundle. This permits users to buy exactly what they need without shelling out unnecessary expenses for a pre-built package, saving them money in the long run.

The prices for individual apps range depending on the application and the number of users. Some cost as little as $50 bucks a month with a $20 per user monthly fee, while others demand $1,500 a month with a $1,000 per user rate.

Dynamics 365 Business Central

Smaller to medium-sized businesses might not need one of Dynamics 365 premium bundles and may prefer an alternative package. Microsoft specifically designed Dynamics 365 Business Central software for smaller businesses. It’s a cloud-based business management program that helps small business owners with their finances, sales, customer service, operations, and more.

Dynamics 365 Business Central comes in three versions.

●      Team Member – The most basic version of Business Central that grants users limited access to its features. Business Central’s Team Member version costs $8 per user per month.

●      Essential – The Business Central Essential package includes everything the team member bundle offers, plus additional apps that help with invoicing, budgeting, purchasing order management, and more. It’s $70 per month per user but is essential for small businesses using NAV.

●      Premium – Business Central’s premium bundle gives users complete access to everything from manufacturing and management modules to simple inventory apps. It’s the best Business Central package available and costs $100 per user per month.

Migration to Dynamics 365

It’s important to note that users can’t transition to Dynamics 365 from outdated software. Users can only upgrade from the most recent version available. This means users can’t skip a software generation to upgrade to Dynamics 365.

For example, if someone has an early version of Dynamics and wants to upgrade to Dynamics 365, they must purchase every version leading up to the most current plan. If they currently use Dynamics CRM 2011, they must buy the 2013 version, then Dynamics CRM 2013 SP1, then 2015, and 2016 before upgrading to Dynamics 365.

However, there is a way to upgrade to Dynamics 365 without climbing the Dynamics ladder. If the user has an outdated version or their business has changed its processes since installation, they can cancel their subscription and start fresh with Dynamics 365. It’s the most cost-efficient way of migrating to the latest version and saves users the hassle of buying, installing, and upgrading multiple times.

User Licenses

Not all Dynamics 365 users share the same privileges. Purchasers pick from three types of user licenses, each with its own access and security levels. Below are the four types of Dynamics 365 user licenses and their levels of access.

●      Full Users – Full users is the most expensive and complete Dynamics 365 user license. As the name implies, full users have unrestricted access to every Dynamics 365 feature. Full user prices vary from $115 to $210 per month per user, depending on the bundle.

●      Operations Activity – The operations activity user level is only available in the Dynamics 365 Plan and the Unified Operations bundle. These users focus on transactional tasks and cost $50 per user per month.

●      Operations Devices – This is less of a user license and more a device fee for additional systems. It’s only available for Dynamics 365 and Unified Operations plans and costs $75 per device per month.

●      Team Member – The most basic user license on every Dynamics 365 plan. It gives users restricted access and allows them to use fundamental processes and view communal data. Team member licenses cost $8 per month per customer.
