Blogging has certainly changed since I first wrote my very first post 15 years ago.
What used to be a small community of a few people writing has now grown into a production of bloggers all trying to get their name out to work with brands, network with others and hustle to make it to the top!
It can be scary when you first start out, unsure of where to go, who to talk to and where to get your best advice from.
How can you find your own community in this ever changing internet world?
Where are your fellow blogger’s bosses? I have a few tips that might encourage, inspire and hopefully help you reach them!
1. Establish Your Blog’s Focus/Niche
Before you start to dive into finding your ideal blogging community and your new friends, you first need to establish your main focus as a blogger.
What’s your blog’s focus/niche? What are the main topics you write about? Who is your ideal target audience?
Who might you want to collaborate with? These are all key questions to get figured out the best before searching for blogging communities, especially ones that are geared towards certain niches only.
2. Reach Out & Research
The next step is to reach out to any bloggers that you already know.
Do you have a friend or family member who’s a blogger and is connected in the blogging world?
Reach out to them and ask if they have any recommendations as to where to get connected.
Be sure to do your research. There are tons of different blogging Facebook groups out there, but being honest, not all of those will help you get connected or grow.
Make sure you do your research and know that each group can help you and your blog in various aspects.
3. Participate In Daily Threads
When you’re new to these groups, the first thing you should do (other than read up on the rules of the group) is to start participating in daily threads.
Most blogging groups have daily comment threads and social media threads.
Drop your links in them and then reciprocate to other bloggers. Share the love!
4. Follow Bloggers You Resonate With On Social Media
Besides from supporting other bloggers’ contents on their blog by reading and commenting, the next way to support and connect with others is to follow them on social media.
Don’t go following everyone – only follow those you truly love, in your niche, and genuinely want to get to connected to.
5. Participate In more Group Activities
Sometimes, social networking groups have more engaging activities from their regularly scheduled threads.
Some have Twitter chats, mail swaps, giveaways, Instagram challenges, and more.
If you want to get out there and connected in the blogging world, you’ve got to take the first step to put yourself out there. You can do it! It’s fun!
5. Be Genuine, Friendly, & Respectful
If you want to attract genuine, friendly, and respectful people, then you need to first take up those attributes.
Be who you want to attract. Stay true to yourself and respect others. Be friendly, warm, kind and motivating.
Remember, you rise by lifting others! If you want the best from a community, you need to give the best to the community.
6. Ask Questions
Once you start connecting to some bloggers that you appreciate, trust and respect, you should start asking questions!
For example, I had no idea what SEO was when I first started so I turned to SEO groups on social networks to help me and advice on what keywords I should be adding to my blog.
