It has become an essential part of people’s lives and influences a lot of their opinions and decisions. This is why social media is the golden gate to make your event a successful one.

Here are a few simple and effective ways to leverage social media for events:

  • Create an Event Hashtag Campaign

Speaking about creating a hashtag, it is extremely significant. A hashtag is easy to use on all social media platforms and helps you collect data related to your event in an easier manner.

Remember to keep your hashtag short and precise. It should be related to your event and should be fun to use. One important thing you have to do after creating your hashtag is, share it. There is no value of the hashtag if not used, so share it on social media, with the press and use it with your marketing material.

The event hashtag can then be used for campaigning of your event and generating user-generated content. The content that can prove to be quite helpful for your event.

  • Invest in video marketing

Videos are very enjoyed and easy-to-consume form of content, it connects with the people not only on a visual level but an emotional level. If it connects with people, it has the power to persuade their opinions and decisions. Using videos for the marketing of your event can prove your credibility to the market as well. It will help you drive and manage user-engagement in an efficient manner.

You can use short teaser videos for pre-event promotion and post-event videos for after the event. Just in case you are hosting an event for the first time, you can go for appealing preparation videos or graphically created teasers as well. The main motive is to create buzz and engagement for your event and that can be attained with both of them.

Remember to keep the video short, sweet and engaging so that people actually make up their minds to attend the event.

  • Provide photo opportunities

You want people to post about your event, therefore you need to provide them with the opportunities to do so. You have to dedicate some efforts towards building a photogenic environment like great lighting, photo booths, exciting backdrops and props. This will encourage people to go ahead and engage with your event and post about it. You can also hire a dedicated photographer for the same. Encourage them to post them with your event hashtag.

  • Leverage Social Wall

Once you have taken into account the above points, you get enough user-generated content of your event. You can easily gather this content from all social media platforms and gel them into one with the help of a UGC platform. These can be displayed in your event in real-time as well as on your website simultaneously and after the event also. This content will be fetched with the help of the event hashtag you created, this is why your branded hashtag campaign is so essential. Social media walls like Instagram hashtag slideshow can increase your event engagements like a pro!!

  • Create a Facebook event on your business page

Facebook serves over 2.4 billion users, this makes Facebook a significant way to promote your events. It can work perfectly to expand awareness, retain attention and manage engagement for your event. Most of the people have synced their Facebook calender with their mobile phones which will help them plan their day around your event.

Remember when you create an event, it should be set up in a manner that attracts the people. It should not sound dull or monotonous, otherwise, people will definitely not show up. Add a catchy description, cover photo, and an updated location. Don’t forget to update, share and post interactive and engaging content for your audience. This will increase the chances of people showing up at your event.

  • Collaborate with Influencers

Social media influencers have a large following, they actually influence a lot of people and their decisions. Therefore, collaborating with these influencers can spread awareness as well as get people to turn up to your event.

They are not necessarily celebrities and can be journalists, public speakers, bloggers, etc. You can collaborate with them and ask them to attend your event as a speaker or trainers if related to your event.

  • Behind the scenes

As I mentioned in one of my previous points, preparation videos work really well. You can try to take your attendees behind the scenes and show them how you have managed and organized the event.

You can share backstage or production content with the people. It helps humanize your event, builds trust and also showcases how your company functions and how fun it can be to work with your agency.
