Nowadays every device comes with Bluetooth features. This is the technology for transferring the data from one device to another device. Printers, mobiles, cameras, and laptops come with Bluetooth access in recent times. Here in this guide, we will explain all the important details about Bluetooth.

Working of Bluetooth

Bluetooth devices connect to each other automatically when pairing is done with the permission of both devicesowner. This gives a more secure connection as two devices are known to each other. In Bluetooth, two paired devices make a connection via a secure channel.

There are more than 70 channels are available and they select one of them automatically. And as a result, no other device can interrupt communication between two paired devices.

Bluetooth versus Wifi

Wifi and Bluetooth both are wireless technology to connect electronic gadgets. Bluetooth is used to connect two devices. While Wifi is used to connect your device to the internet. You can browse the internet by using Wifi without connecting your devices to a cable outlet.

For this, you need a Wifi router and modem. When your phone or laptop is connected to the Wifi router, you will start getting radio signals and your device will convert them into internet signals to view the data.

While Bluetooth is used to transfer data between devices if they are located within a short distance. Bluetooth does not require passwords to connect. It also uses radio signals like Wifi. Both side connection permission is needed in Bluetooth.

To connect your Bluetooth headphone to your mobile, first switch on Bluetooth in a headphone, After that select and approve connection from your phone by selecting your headphone. It will make a pair between two devices.

Wifi is a more secure connection than Bluetooth as you can protect it with a password. Bluetooth data transfer is slower than Wifi. You can use Bluetooth only for short-range connections.

Pairing in Bluetooth

There are two types of pairing mechanisms in Bluetooth. One is legacy pairing and the other is Secure Simple Pairing (SSP). In legacy pairing, a shared key or PIN is used to make connections. In Bluetooth v2.1 and above SSP is used while in lower versions legacy pairing is used.

Factors affecting Bluetooth connectivity

There are many factors that affect Bluetooth connection. Transmission power is one of them. If transmission power is high then the range of Bluetooth connection is increased. Another side it also consumes more battery with increasing transmission power. Receiver sensitivity is also an important factor in Bluetooth.

This is the minimum strength of the receiver at which it can catch the signals. One of the most important factors in Bluetooth connectivity is the path of the signal. Distance between devices, the medium on which signals are traveling like wood, concrete, plastic will change signal strength.

New technology which is named Forward Error Correction has increase receiver sensitivity in recent times. This technology detects errors in signal on receiving end and can improve signal strength by more than three times.
